Roxane de Massol de Rebetz Researcher

Roxane de Massol de Rebetz is an Assistant Professor of Law & Society at the Van Vollenhoven Institute for Law, Governance and Society at Leiden University. Her PhD (obtained in Leiden University) focused on transit migration, migrant smuggling, and human trafficking. Roxane’s research focuses on security-related policies, laws, and practices from a socio-legal lens. She investigates the practices of security actors—ranging from lawmakers to prosecutors and police officers—across various fields such as counterterrorism, extremism, organized crime, and migration management. As part of this research, Roxane investigates issues such as polarization of opinion and the social ‘illnesses’ often linked to this complex phenomenon from the perspective of the European and Dutch law and policymaker.
