Janne Heederik PostDoc
As an anthropologist, Janne is particularly interested in the role of governance, policy and bureaucracy in shaping the relationship between the state and its citizens. For her PhD, she previously conducted research in Manchester (UK) on the role of advice centres as intermediaries between the state and marginalised citizens dependent on benefits.
From 2022 to 2024, she was a researcher for the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee on Fraud Policy and Service Delivery, which investigated government fraud policies and public service conditions in the wake of the national Benefits Scandal. She enjoys working at the intersection of policy and research and strives to study policy processes from an ethnographic perspective, thus contributing to the development of equitable and effective social policies.
