Jan Willem Duyvendak Co-Applicant
Jan Willem Duyvendak is a Distinguished Research Professor of Sociology at the University of Amsterdam. He is also Director of the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIAS-KNAW). Prior to this, he was the director of the Verwey-Jonker Research Institute for Social Issues from 1999 to 2003 and a Professor of Community Development at the Erasmus University Rotterdam.
Jan Willem Duyvendak earned his master's degrees in sociology and philosophy from the University of Groningen and completed his doctoral research, which focused on new social movements, at the University of Amsterdam. His primary areas of research are the transformation of the welfare state, belonging and ‘feeling at home’, and nativism.
