Social Resilience as Political PracticeCharlotte van der Veen is a PhD candidate with Crafting Resilience, in which she studies the realties and relationalities that new welfare figures, such as the "expert by experience" and the "key person", enact.
Charlotte obtained her BA in Literary Studies at the VU (Vrije Universiteit). She received her MA in Cultural Analysis from the University of Amsterdam. Her thesis focused on the relationality of pain and madness in autobiographical performance. Prior to starting her PhD, she researched policies on homelessness and sheltered living in several Dutch municipalities.
Outside academia Charlotte has several years of work experience in the field of peer support and client advocacy.
