Anne Jonker PhD Candidate
Resilience & SecurityAnne holds a bachelor in Political Science with a specialization in International Relations from the University of Amsterdam, and a master in Law & Society: Governance and Global Development (cum laude) from Leiden University. She has been a PhD student at the Leiden University Van Vollenhoven Institute (VVI) since 2023.
Anne's research focuses on the interaction and relationship between the state and citizens, focusing on these relationships in the context of the care and security domain.
Prior to starting her PhD research, Anne was a junior teacher and research assistant at the VVI. As a research assistant, she has conducted empirical research in the field of counter-terrorism and co-authored the criminological framework. She is currently also involved in coordinating the Master Honors Course ‘Climbing the Wall of Empathy: Researching “The Other” Through Academic and Artistic Research’, and is highly interested in the intersection and collaboration between art and science.
